SUMMER 2015 INSPIRATION CROATIA

9/23/2014

JUST TO CLARIFY: These photos have all been taken by myself. They are a true reflection of my wonderful experience in Croatia.

I know what you're thinking, I'm late to the boat with the summer holiday blog post!
Well, I'm not. Actually, I am early because this is a post for you early-bookers to (hopefully) inspire you to book a visit to Croatia. Why? Because its scenic, sunny and the sea is so clear. Seriously, its like being on a paradise island. So, if you're a deal-seeker and starting to think about next summer, take a look at these photos and let me know what you think.

I visited Cavtat because it had a few really lovely hotels but it was not a resort or strip. There are resorts in Croatia, but for a more tranquil and relaxing holiday I find it far better not to spoil the atmosphere with loud club tunes and puddles of alcoholic puke. The picture below is the luxurious view I had from my hotel room. (Yes, that is a giant inflatable to the right. I didn't go on but I'm pretty sure both children and adults were permitted!)

I loved walking along the shore and finding small coves to enjoy the sun and clear seas privately. Even though the hotels were full and it was late August (which is prime holiday time) there were still so many coves free. These photos show how clear the waters were in these little coves. It was magical, and best of all free. It was a public beach with a private experience. The one complaint is that the beach wasn't sandy so I had to purchase special beach shoes. It was well worth it for the amazing fish I could see when snorkelling and the surrounding views. It was breathtaking.

Cavtat was a short ferry or bus ride from Dubrovnik (pictured left) which was a lovely city with lots of history behind it. My family took a cable car ride to enjoy the views but I really didn't want to because I am ridiculously anxious when exposed to heights and I felt I had seen enough amazing views without pushing myself too far. I am glad I didn't either because on the coach ride home, the route was around the hills so I saw some amazing views whilst in the safety of being on land.

Back in Cavtat I went on a lovely 30-40 minute walk where I climbed on the rocks and took in the views whilst truly believing I was in paradise.

I was sooooo lucky with the weather too as it was sunny and 30 degree heat all week. It was an amazing holiday and it was Croatia which made me realise the value of travelling and seeing the world-a feeling that I had never experienced before.

Hopefully I have inspired your summer 2015 travels.

Until my next post, doviđenja xx

ps On visiting Croatia watch out for the sea urchins hiding in the sea. They're spiky little buggers.
